Dems Have NO ROOM To Complain About SCOTUS Abortion Decision, So Be Quiet
Miss me with the tears and outrage, you hypocrites.
Democrats have zero room to complain about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and sending abortion back to the states — and I say this as a rare breed of libertarian-minded conservative who’s generally pro-abortion.
Just this week, THEIR federal administration unilaterally banned Juul e-cigarettes, announced plans to place a nicotine cap on all cigarettes, and eliminated due process rights for college students accused of sexual harassment or assault.
To be clear, relegating abortion back to the states isn’t remotely equivalent to enacting unilateral, across-the-board bans. And indeed, by returning abortion back to the states, the Supreme Court is technically granting local communities the choice to decide for themselves whether abortion should be legal or illegal.
Remember, America was founded on the notion of federalism, i.e., separation of powers and respect for local rule. Why? To prevent a centralized authority from issuing life-changing diktats from up on high.
Diktats such as these:
Juul Ban
The Biden administration unilaterally banned all Juul e-cigarettes this Thursday on the basis that their flavored e-cigs are enticing to children.
Never mind that flavored cigarettes, cigars, and alcohol still remain readily available. Never mind that Juul represents just 30 percent of the e-cig market.
And never mind, more importantly, that Juul and other e-cigarette brands have been instrumental in helping folks quit their far more detrimental habit of smoking tobacco, which as you know is associated with a plethora of diseases.
If I, as a former adult smoker, may not purchase a Juul e-cigarette anymore because of the unilateral actions of the Biden administration, then why on Earth should you have a federally guaranteed right to abortion?
Nicotine Cap
The Biden administration announced on Tuesday that it intends to establish a one-size-fits-all nicotine cap on all cigarettes because of data suggesting that fewer Americans would die were said cap imposed.
But common sense tells us that the end result will be smokers puffing even more cigarettes per day to make up for the lost nicotine. This means they’ll wind up consuming more tobacco byproducts, i.e., more cancer-causing carcinogens.
If you support this unilateral ban but are outraged over the high court’s decision, then you should thank God almighty that the pro-life community lacks the power to impose a similar unilateral ban on abortion nationwide.
Due Process
On Thursday, the administration proposed nixing the expanded Title IX rules that were adopted in 2020 by Trump-era Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
DeVos’ rules granted college students who were accused of sexual harassment or assault the full due process rights that they deserve.
As a result of the Biden nixing these rules, schools will "no longer need to provide hearings for accused students to cross-examine their accusers,” according to Reason magazine:
One of the most fundamental improvements of the DeVos rules was the establishment of cross-examination. A representative for the accused student—such as an attorney—had the right to scrutinize an accuser's claim during an actual hearing to adjudicate the dispute. Under the new rules, this is no longer the case.
In addition, accused students will no longer be “guaranteed access to the evidence against them”:
Under the DeVos rules, both the accused and the accusers were entitled to "inspect and review any evidence obtained as part of the investigation." Not so under the new rules: parties will only be guaranteed access to a "description of the relevant evidence." This description need not be written down; administrators can provide it "orally or in writing."
Thanks to Democrats and THEIR administration, college students accused of sexual harassment or assault will therefore now be at the mercy of kangaroo courts like the one that almost ruined the life of Marcus Knight, an autistic black man:

And so with all this in mind, for you liberal Democrats to support these policies, either directly or by proxy, and then turn around and bitch and moan and threaten to riot because abortion hasn’t been banned but merely relegated back to the states — it’s the height of hypocrisy.
In fact, it’s the exact sort of shameless, indecent, unprincipled hypocrisy that inspired me, a lifelong liberal, into switching parties back in 2013 in the first place.
Of course, Republicans are hypocrites too, but nothing like Democrats. Nothing at all!
